Can I walk through the truffle plantation without joining a tour?

No.

The commercial truffle plantation is not open for self-guided access or casual wandering. Access is carefully managed and forms part of a guided experience.

Why is access to the plantation restricted?

The Truffle Farm (Tasmania) is a genuine commercial food-producing farm. Protecting the health of the trees, soil and truffle crop is essential.

Plant diseases, fungal spores, weed seeds and other contaminants can be carried unintentionally on footwear, clothing and equipment. Controlled access helps reduce these biosecurity risks and protects both current harvests and the long-term health of the plantation.

Why do tour guests wear disposable shoe covers?

Guests entering the plantation during a guided tour are provided with disposable shoe covers as part of the farm's biosecurity procedures. Guests must remain with their guide and follow any instructions provided while in the plantation.

Can I enter the plantation just to take photographs or social media content?

No. Unrestricted access is not permitted, including for photographs, videos or social media content.

Visitors can still capture memorable images around the Farmgate shop, visitor gardens and Doug the Big Truffle Dog. Booked tour guests may also take personal photographs during the guided experience, subject to staff directions and consideration for other guests.

Can I still visit without booking a tour?

Yes. The Farmgate Shop, visitor gardens and Farmgate shop can be visited without a tour booking during opening hours. Only the commercial plantation is restricted.
