Thank you for booking with us and for supporting our small business.
How to get there
The Truffle Farm is located at 844 Mole Creek Road, Needles TAS 7304 (corner of Askrigg Lane/Mole Creek Road). We recommend that you enter this whole address into either Apple or Google maps. Please be aware that there is another truffle farm called Truffles of Tasmania in the same area. Their signage can often cause confusion and lead people to go to the wrong place; please ignore their signage. Our farm is located 8mins South-West of Deloraine and you will find us on the right-hand side of the road, OR if you are driving from the opposite direction, we are located 12mins East of Mole Creek and our farm will be on the left-hand side of the road. You will also see our distinctive signage (The Truffle Farm) with the gold dog logo. Please drive down Askrigg Lane and follow the signs into the carpark area; we ask that you check in with staff at the Farmgate shop so that we know you have arrived for your tour.
Late Arrivals Policy
We kindly ask all visitors to arrive on time, as we are an active working farm with a carefully planned schedule. Arriving late for your tour affects not only your experience but also the experience of others who have arrived punctually. To ensure fairness, please plan your journey to arrive 10–15 minutes before your scheduled tour time. This allows time to check in with staff, use the bathroom facilities, and enjoy a stroll through the gardens before your tour begins.
Please note that tours will commence on time, and we are unable to delay or repeat any missed sections due to late arrivals. Regretfully, visitors may receive a reduced offering in these circumstances. We do understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and we will do our best to assist you where possible. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Accessibility
If you have any accessibility requirements, please reach out to us before your tour so that we can assist you. We have many accommodations that can be implemented to make your visit an enjoyable experience. This may include guests who identify as neuro-diverse, guests with mobility requirements, or guests with dietary requirements. Our complete Accessibility Guide is located on our website.
What to wear
The weather in Tasmania can change often and quickly, sometimes with four seasons in one day. We are an all-weather experience and it is recommended that visitors prepare for the outdoors and dress appropriately with flat, closed-in shoes that are comfortable to walk in. We have large umbrellas onsite just in case, but visitors are expected to take responsibility for dressing appropriately for the weather and for keeping warm. Summer in Tasmania can be harsh, so please remember to bring hats and wear sunscreen. Visitors will be required to put disposable shoe coverings over their shoes whilst in the plantation for biosecurity reasons, and these fit best over closed shoes.
Biosecurity
Strict biosecurity protocols are in place on the farm and visitors will be required to wear disposable shoe coverings whilst in the Trufferie, during the hunting process. These disposable coverings are best suited to flat, closed-in shoes.
Cancellation policy
Our full cancellation and rescheduling policy is available on our website. In summary: Guests are welcome to reschedule their tour up to 24 hours prior to the original scheduled tour time. A new confirmation email will be sent to guests to advise of any updates. Guests are welcome to cancel their tour up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled tour time; guests will receive a full refund of the booking costs in this circumstance, and refunds will be processed via the same method in which guests paid for the booking. Unfortunately, should guests fail to provide cancellation notice to us within 24 hours prior to the scheduled tour time, guests will not be offered a full refund, and 50% of the booking fee will be kept as a payment to cover pre-arranged catering and staff costs. In the event of a no-show, we regret that no refund will be offered to guests. We agree, in good faith, to hold places for our guests through the booking process. Should any guest fail to show up for a tour due to their error, mistake or omission, then no refund will be offered. We often have an active guest waitlist who would be happy to take your place should they be given the opportunity to do so. By not advising us, or communicating your intentions, you prevent us from offering your place to others and covering our pre-arranged catering and staff costs. *As a small business we appreciate your understanding with these terms.
Our Dogs
Please note that the friendly truffle dogs are a vital and essential part of the operation and tours, and they will be free roaming (not on lead) for the duration of the tour. The truffle dogs are highly trained to do a specialised job, they are not dangerous, and they are very familiar with being around visitors; they do get excited to welcome visitors and will then rest peacefully around the tour shed both before and after the hunting component is complete. It is considered to be the visitor’s responsibility to ensure they are comfortable and happy with this setting as the dogs cannot be removed from the tour; we have guests who are in attendance for the dog experience, and it is unfair to take this away from them.
Catering & Dietary Requirements
Our menu is 100% vegetarian. We do cater for different dietary needs ie Gluten free, Dairy free and Vegan with a minimum 24 hours notice. Our refreshments include a selection of Tasmanian wines and beers and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages. If you have further questions regarding our menu, please reach out to us at hello@thetrufflefarmtasmania.com.au
Farmgate Shop
After your truffle tour, you can purchase our products and fresh truffle if you wish, at the Tour Shed site. Alternatively, you can also purchase our products and fresh truffle (in season) at our farmgate shop. Our Farmgate shop is located onsite at 844 Mole Creek Rd, Needles, and is open between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm every day. At the Farmgate shop, visitors can learn about truffles, sample and purchase our gourmet truffle products, purchase Truffle Farm merchandise and enjoy our decadent fresh truffle ice cream.
Covid/Health and Safety
We aim to be Covid/Health safe at the farm and we follow all government requirements and guidelines as and when advised. If activated, these requirements and guidelines will need to be respected and maintained during your visit. If you experience any flu-like symptoms, we ask that you do not attend your tour experience. If you wake up on the day of your scheduled experience with flu-like symptoms, please contact us directly to discuss rescheduling your experience for another day.
Will we find a truffle?
Our tours operate throughout the whole year, however in our truffle season, usually December to September, we have truffles that are ready to be harvested. Truffles are a natural product, and we cannot guarantee how many we will find on your truffle tour. We endeavour to do our best to ensure that a member from each booking party has the opportunity to dig up a truffle, but this is something we cannot guarantee. Please be mindful of this with your booking and with your expectations on the day of your truffle hunting. Out-of-season tours are available during October and November and you can find more information about this here. It is important to remember that truffles are a natural seasonal product, and weather changes (excess heat, cold, or rain) can affect the maturation rate of truffles; this may cause a delay to the start of the season in June (winter truffles) and December (summer truffles).
Communication T&C
As a part of your booking, you will receive communication from us in the form of text messages (SMS, MMS, or WhatsApp) or emails. This is for operational purposes and includes but is not limited to pre-tour directions, and a post-tour feedback opportunity. We respect your right to privacy and will not disclose your personal information to any third parties.
